"Goals - Why Your Success Depends Upon Them"," What is it that you really want out of life? The fact is that most people do not really want money; they want what they can
get with money.
That question is, ""If money was no object, what would you do?""
No matter what your dream may be, the bottom line - the point where the rubber meets the road - is that those who know what they want and who are willing to put forth the extra effort to achieve those dreams will ultimately have things that others will never have.
What is the purpose of setting and then writing down your goals?
We all think and dream about our own success; think and dream about who and where we will be in one year, five years, ten years from now.
How many of us who are 30 to 40 years old, having experienced the realities of life, find that our goals and dreams are no longer what we thought of in our 20's? For example, do you still think about the grand country estate and the luxury cars, or are your goals now more along the lines of a 3-bedroom house and late model economy car?
How many individuals who are 60ish and still surviving paycheck to paycheck have faced the hard truth that the comfortable retirement they once imagined has somehow eluded them?
Very simply, the ""American Dream"" does sneak by most of us.
Without even realizing it, the idealistic 20-year-old finds himself at 60, living paycheck to paycheck and working to achieve a pension that is probably not going to support him.
What makes it happen is our failure to understand the power of goal setting and our unwillingness to truly commit ourselves to our own success.
Make the most out of it!""
So how do you go about setting goals?
One of my favorite sayings is that a goal is not a goal until it is in writing.
Goals should be expressed in ways that compel us to achieve them.
So start by writing down your goal.
Create the picture in your mind and write down specific quantities, time periods, places and people.
Your reasons for your desires are the driving force that will cause you to get what you want.
You might say that you want to earn a six-figure income.
Or your answer might be that you will be able to afford a dream home for your family, a great education for your children, and financial independence for yourself.
Bottom line, if you begin setting goals
now, you will be ahead of what most other people accomplish in their entire lives.
Remember, when obstacles start popping up in your way (and they will), you will need real drive and determination to keep going and not give up.
