New Zealand Tourist Attractions and Adventure Activities - The Ultimate Holiday Destination

"New Zealand Tourist Attractions and Adventure Activities - The Ultimate Holiday Destination"," Long and narrow, we have endless kilometres of coastline, with beaches of all kinds - long and sandy, picturesque bays over hung with our gorgeous silver green ,red flowering pohutakawas, and the stony South Island West Coast beaches, just perfect for rock hounds.
The many rushing rivers carve their way through the hills, and magnificent mountains .
Water sports of every kind, from the most exhilarating adrenaline pumping extreme sports, to the more sedate such as swimming with dolphins, whale watching or fishing.

Mountains

Our mountains offer a different selection of equally nerve wracking options, along with the more usual but popular snow boarding and skiing.

Wind

Being exposed, we have our fair share of wind! While the views for air sports are magnificent.

Bush

Our bush is unique to New Zealand, with lush, green sub tropical growth -ferns, tree ferns, and a huge range of trees native to New Zealand, many over a thousand years old.
These great spreading trees form a canopy, in our many tiered bush.
The most famous is the Milford Track, with several other well known tramps ( the New Zealand term for hiking) in the same area -Greenstone, Routeburn, and in the northern part of the South Island the Heaphy Track.
This 17 kilometre trek is in Lord of the Rings territory or Mt Doom!

Miscellaneous

Personally, I would not have said New Zealand was a natural for sports such as cycling.
There are many wonderful mountain biking locations.
Our beautifully situated golf courses attract golfers from around the world.
The rich and famous find they can escape into the wilderness, here Down Under and often slip in and out quietly, for a break from their high profile lives.
The traditional Maori culture and lifestyle, is a unique experience.
Rotorua, with its thermal geysers, mud pools and fascinating scenery, is the best single town to embrace all things Maori.

History

Our historic centre is found at Waitangi in Northland.
New Zealand history being relatively new.
New Zealander's are creative and innovative people.
But we do many things a little differently.
Te Papa in Wellington is the official National Museum.
Maritime museums, kauri museums, technology museums, car museums - they are many, and varied, featuring different aspects of New Zealand history.
Ranging from tropical gardens in the north to cooler climate gardens with glorious spring flowers, there is real variety.
In spring and summer there are many annual garden tours.
We are fortunate , with such a variable climate and soils, to have many wine areas, each tending to specialise in varieties best suited to the area.
Many New Zealand wineries also have excellent restaurants.
Not only are there the more traditional concert venues, but many outdoor concerts are held in vineyards, parks, and gardens.
If you are here at the right time you may enjoy a great New Zealand musical event.
000 people attend.

With scenery to thrill and excite the senses, photographers and artists have a never ending array of ever changing subjects to inspire as they record their New Zealand holiday.
It really is the ultimate holiday destination!

The Best White Wines - Leaders of the Pack

"The Best White Wines - Leaders of the Pack"," White wines, yellow, golden or straw-like in color, are derived from an assortment of grape varietals of green, gold or yellowish-colored grapes, or from just the juice (not the skin) of select red grapes.
White wines are often preferred with lighter meals such as lunch, smaller lighter dinners, and appetizers, or as aperitifs, with optimum serving temperatures at 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit.
A variety of taste descriptors apply to white wine, such as citrus, apple, pear, grapefruit, lemon, lime, pineapple, melon, butter, honey, flora, herb, earthy, along with light oak vanilla, sweet wood coconut, as well as heavier oak, smoke, toast.
Chardonnay's intrinsic blank canvas quality allows its flavors to be dramatically affected by soil, climate, vineyard practices, and winemaking techniques that produce wide variances in the Chardonnay flavor profile.
Chardonnay is the major varietal used in quality sparkling wines and French Champagne.
Chablis is described as flinty, mineral or "steely", versus the Meursault appellation (one of the relatively few Burgundy villages that produces almost entirely white wine) where Chardonnay is described as having a lush, ripe, "fleshy", "buttery" quality.
Chardonnay has also been a successful grape in Australia, sometimes misnamed there "pinot chardonnay".
Heavily oak influenced Chardonnays do not pair well with more delicate fish; they pair better with smoked fish, spicy Southeast Asian cuisine, garlic and guacamole.

Sauvignon Blanc, one of the first fine wines to be bottled with a screwcap in commercial quantities, is usually consumed young, not particularly benefiting from aging.
Blending Sauvignon Blanc with Semillon is a common practice to add richness and an extra element of figs to the aroma, softening the Sauvignon Blanc's naturally high acidity character.
This character pervades in even sweet and dessert versions, preventing them from being cloying and sticky-tasting.
It pairs well with sushi, fish, and fresh goat cheese.
Riesling is distinctively floral and exhibits apple, pear, peach, apricot-like aromas that frequently mix in mineral elements reflecting the individuality of its
terroir (a group of vineyards or even vines from the same region).
Riesling may have aromas of green or other apples, grapefruit, peach, honey, rose blossom or cut green grass.
Riesling makes dry, semi-sweet, sweet and sparkling white wines which pair well with white fish or pork.

Gewürztraminer is more pungent and full-bodied than most any other white wine with a heady, aromatic scent of roses, passion fruit, floral notes and exotic lychee-nut flavor with at times a heavy, oily texture and a slight tendency to bitterness that can be overwhelming and tiring to some.
Gewürztraminer can be made into an excellent dessert wine.

Pinot Gris/Pinot Grigio can be clear in color to a light gold and can be dry or attain a high level of sweetness and even age well.
It is a wine that is usually delicately fragrant and mildly floral along with hints of almond and smoke.

Semillon is the majority white variety in Bordeaux regions of Graves, Entre de Mers and Sauternes, and makes up the majority of the blend in the most expensive and famous dessert wines in the world.
It is full of crisp citrus flavors with a touch of fresh herbs.
Semillon works well when blended with Chardonnay, providing weight and richness.
Viognier possesses a rich and complex floral aroma that often conjures up reflections of overripe apricots mixed with orange blossoms, along with a distinctive and sweet aroma-flavor profile as Gewürztraminer.
Aromatic and fruit forward by nature of the grape, Viognier pairs well with spicy foods such as Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, and with shellfish, such as Dungeness crab.
Considered the most versatile of all wine grape varieties, fragrant and lightly sweet and crisp, it can be used to make everything -- light sparkling wines, dry table wines, nectar-like dessert wines (where the grapes can be left on the vines to develop noble rot, producing an intense, viscous dessert wine that will improve considerably with age), and even brandy are all produced in various areas of the wine world.

"Retirement on the Mexican Riviera"

"Retirement on the Mexican Riviera"," By definition, Riviera is an Italian term originally from the Middle Ages for the coast of Liguria. Retirement on either Riviera would be wonderful if you have seriously deep pockets, don't mind the 10 hour transatlantic flight, and the possible language barrier when you're there! Today, the term is more generally applied worldwide to about a dozen warm coastal regions popular with tourists. The Riviera Maya consists of 80 miles of carribbean coastline wrapping along the eastern side of the Yucatan Peninsula in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. This region is a terrific area for visiting with its warm weather, sandy beaches, and historic archaeological sites; it may be a different matter when it comes to retirement. Also, the Yucatan area is threatened by hurricanes off the Caribbean Sea almost every year with Playa del Carmen and Chetumal being virtually wiped out a few years ago and Cancun devastated in 2005. This flat topography results in the beautiful large beaches and shallow water that attract the younger generation for spring break vacations and other holidays with a very active night life. With the Sierra Madre Mountains running virtually the entire distance, this shoreline has to be considered one of the most scenic on the planet. The problem is that approximately 90% of this magnificent terrain is classified as ejido land and is not available for purchase by foreigners. The small fraction of land that has been privatized lies in and around the resort destinations along the Mexican Riviera where foreigners can purchase property and hold the title, as an escritura, in a 50 year bank trust. For retirement consideration, let's take a closer look at the resorts along this Riviera. Ensenada now has a population of 450,000 inhabitants of which approximately 20,000 are North American retirees. Along with the wine industry, Ensenada has a thriving fishing industry, agricultural business, a substantial gravel mining industry, six major maquiladora parks, and of course tourism. The greater Ensenada area is quite large and basically flat with mountains generally in the background surrounding the city. Because the region is more industrial than tourist based, the cost of living is quite attractive in the Ensenada area. Fishing, agriculture, cotton textile spinning and weaving, sugar refining, breweries, coffee roasting plants, etc. Approximately 300 miles south of Mazatlan is Manzanillo, the ""Sailfish Capital of the World"". Both Mazatlan and Manzanillo rely heavily on industry and much less on tourism. Acapulco is by far the largest city on the Mexican Riviera with a population exceeding 700,000 people. This popular resort destination offers scenic terrain, beautiful beaches, warm climate, and all the amenities that any tourist would desire. Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo (Ixtapa is actually the resort area where the retirees are located), Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Escondido, and Huatulco are much smaller cities, each having populations of less than 70,000 people; Puerto Escondido and Huatulco, much less. They each have beautiful golf courses and other tourist related activities. Being strictly resort areas, there are virtually no other industries and therefore most of the local citizens speak some degree of English. Having small North American communities may offer benefits to some and drawbacks to others. The last and probably the most popular resort destination, located in the center of the Mexican Riviera, is Puerto Vallarta; home of nearly 50,000 North Americans. Puerto Vallarta is situated on the shoreline of the 25 mile diameter Banderas Bay which is surrounded by the Sierra Madre Mountains. Retirement property ranges from beachfront condominium towers to mountainside villas, all of which have panoramic views of the city, the Pacific Ocean, and the Sierra Madres with their native fauna and flora. as well as many other mega modern supermarkets. Four new modern hospitals with sophisticated equipment and highly trained doctors are now in Vallarta as are a number of modern dental clinics. Since Vallarta's only industry is tourism, communications are never a barrier. After all, not only is it a short 2-4 hours away but it's probably the only Riviera you'll ever be able to afford, except perhaps your dad's old Buick! . IS THIS EVEN POSSible

A Visit to Green Island, Taiwan

"A Visit to Green Island, Taiwan"," Now a popular vacation destination for locals, the treacherous Kuroshio Current surrounding the island and its infamous prison once made it notorious for being Taiwan's Alcatraz. Keep an eye on the weather though; all transportation is grounded in the event of heavy rain or strong winds, and it's easy to find yourself stranded. Many of the hotels are by the harbor, which is crowded, smelly and expensive. Shiacarl is, hands down, the best place to stay on Green Island. Prices vary by season, but I spent about US $150 on the package for four days/three nights during the high season. The best room is a double room at the top which offers both. Green Island is a haven for those wishing to escape the overcrowding of Taiwan's larger cities and a must-see for anyone who visits Taiwan. If starting from Shiacarl, bike or ride a scooter north up a steep mountainous road (30 min. by scooter). After catching the sunrise, start off northwest toward the Sika Deer Area. The cave protects a stalagmite mildly resembling Guanyin, a Buddhist goddess that island fishermen and sailors pray to for safety. The prison is open to the public and, for many visitors, is the historic highlight of the island. Be on the lookout for lizards and coconut crabs as you follow the road around these buildings to your right and come upon a sandy path that leads to the beach. I think I frightened them as much as they did me! The tombs belong to soldiers and political prisoners, and many believe the surrounding hills are haunted by their ghosts. Look up the steep cliffs behind Swallow Cave and you will probably see herds of goats vying for the choicest bits of grass and daring each other further out onto the ledges. "" The monument consists of a pool of rain water with a duct spiraling down to a fountain that is said to signify the thousands of tears that have fallen in grief for the dead or ""missing"" victims. If you're feeling famished, pass through the village of Gong Guan where there's a hotel-run coffee shop and a good grill-it-yourself buffet restaurant (US ~$12 lunch/dinner only). This is an immense pre-historic fossilized shell heap created by the San Zung Liao, who inhabited the island circa 1,000-1,800 B. Everything from shells and antlers to pottery and jewelry has been found there. You can snap a picture from the outside, but will only be allowed in if you do something really heinous. Unfortunately, a lot of the coral near the shore has died (probably from being trampled by tourists), but there is still a surprisingly large variety of fish. Near the diving area stands a modest lighthouse. As a gesture of gratitude, America donated money to construct the lighthouse, which was completed in 1939. The shopping's ok if you need a bikini, want to pick up some dried deer, squid or seaweed, or are interested in shells with plastic googly eyes imported from Southeast Asia. The snacks are pretty good; indulge in big seashells of milk tofu and seaweed gelatin over ice. Just past the harbor is the Big Mushroom Coral Reef, which is rumored to be fantastic snorkeling, although I didn't have a chance to see it myself. However, it's a little pricey from what I've been told (US $15-20/night). Near the campground, right on the beach, is the world-famous Jhaorih sulphur/saltwater hot spring. Near the hot spring is the trailhead for the Cross-Mountain Trail, which is only accessible by foot. So, if you find yourself in Asia, don't make the mistake of overlooking Taiwan. The marvelous scenery, welcoming locals, rich history, and sprinkling of adventure are the perfect combination for an unforgettable journey. Make my day click here

This means that the plan should not produce something that would fall on the heads of people who will be living in it. You need to know what sort of expenses you will be facing and whether or not you have enough funding. In other words, the country house plan should be flexible. This can be a very hard quality to achieve. A country house plan needs to fit in with the surrounding countryside. Tangalooma Marine Life - Top Sea Animals You Can See at Tangalooma

"Tangalooma Marine Life - Top  Sea Animals You Can See at Tangalooma"," It what once a whaling station, the largest land based whaling station in the Southern hemisphere which is quite a feat as it was only open 10 years.
Find out what are the top 5 marine animals you might see on a trip to Tangalooma.
Brisbane shores are not the most appealing.
So what could this barren looking bay offer?

My personal top 5 marine animals you could see at Tangalooma:
Dugongs Inshore bottlenose dolphins (the wild dolphins) Whales in Winter Turtles Pelicans

Moreton Bay is deceptive on its coastal shore, but get out towards the islands Moreton and North Stradbroke Island and you will soon start to see that there is certainly more to this bay than at first meets the eye.
Immense amounts of white fine sand! They are not little outcrops in the bay, these are sizeable islands with hills and even buildings on the hills.
For me dugongs would have to be the top marine creatures to be seen in Moreton Bay.
The dugongs of Moreton Bay, according to the Tangalooma Eco Cruise guide, are unique in the world as they are the only dugongs that have been seen to herd.

There are two other common marine mammals closely associated with Tangalooma.
A pod of these wild dolphins is famous for their visits to Tangalooma.
These are wild dolphins so there are no guarantees that the dolphins will come visiting.
Tangalooma was opened in 1952 as a land based whaling station, and had the dubious honour of being the largest in the southern hemisphere.
Tangalooma is an obvious choice for whale watching tours.
From June to October whale watching tours are conducted by the Tangalooma resort.
The first one I ever spotted in the water was here, and it was an impressive metre long!

Bringing up the rear in is the Australian Pelican.
If you haven't seen a pelican up close, it is a very unsual animal.

Late Deals for Egypt: Immerse Yourself in the Magical Marine Life

"Late Deals for Egypt: Immerse Yourself in the Magical Marine Life"," The pristine waters of the warm Red Sea host a cornucopia of natural life which continues to flourish due to the strict controls that the government exercises over the coast's spectacular coral reefs.

One of the main attractions for snorkelling in Sharm el Sheikh is Tiran Island which lies to the east of Naama Bay.

The boat trip from Naama Bay lasts around one hour but most tour operators will stop a number of times on route to visit some of the more exceptional reefs along the way.
Anchoring points are well-established to ensure that visiting boats do not erode the coral or disturb aquatic habitats.
A discount may be offered to those who bring their own mask and fins.

Some operators offer private two-person boat trips to Tiran Island where couples can make the journey in an exclusive speed boat with their very own personal tour guide.
These private trips are ideally suited to couples on romantic holidays, keen to spend some quality time alone and create the kind of memories that last a lifetime.

The full spectacle of Sharm el Sheikh's enchanting underwater world is something which defies description and must be experienced firsthand.

Top Things To Consider In A New House Plan

"Top  Things To Consider In A New House Plan"," There are many new house plans available today and the sky's the limit on features and styles.
The problem with that is we typically don't spend enough time evaluating and considering the design aspects of the new house.
The following list are ten important things to consider when choosing a new house plan.
Style - I think the style of the home is the best place to start.
Are your preferences more modern or traditional? Do you want a house that is similar to your neighbors? What house style will hold the best value in your neighborhood? What style house will closely match your interior style and existing furnishings? These are all questions that you need to ask yourself and your family.

The easiest answer to this question would be based on your current family size and needs.
Or maybe you need four bedrooms today yet your kids will be off to college in a few years.
 Single Level Vs.
Some people really enjoy having single level living with no stairs to climb up and down.
Some land sites are quite small and someone looking for decent square footage may only be able to build a multi-level house.

These suites often have generous closet space, large private bathrooms with soaker tubs, jetted tubs, large walk-in showers and even walk-in closets.

In fact, in my new house we made the mudroom a combination laundry and pantry.
A word of caution if you choose a second floor laundry.

The average home in the US has 2 1/2 baths and the average appears to be heading towards
Kitchen Style - I could write an entire article on this topic, however, the main point here is that many house plans have just a basic kitchen layout.
Plenty of home supply stores will design you a new kitchen free of charge based on the floor plan so don't let a simple kitchen layout deter you from a house plan you really like.
Floor Plans - When evaluating floor plans try to visualize how you will furnish the house and how you plan on using different rooms in your daily life.
Often people have a hard time visualizing the size of a room and later when the house is done they are not happy with the size.

If you put the dining room on the other side of the living room so that you have to carry meals through the living room you will soon realize that's not very functional.
Again, I think its important to compare where you currently live to the house plan and think about your likes and dislikes.
House Site - The house site can sometimes play a big part in the style, floor plan and functionality.
Or maybe your lot is really hilly and needs a drive under garage.

If you get one thing out of this article remember this, plan, plan, plan and plan some more.

Why Buy Stock House Plans Vs Custom?

"Why Buy Stock House Plans Vs Custom?","

After these initial questions have been successfully answered, the next item that must be addressed is that of house plans.

Custom Houseplans

Custom house plans are just as the name implies.
The plans are normally drawn by a licensed building designer or, in some cases, a licensed architect in a geographic location close to where the  home will be built.
Many times these type ""special"" requests can present significant challenges to the designer of the home, which as a result, may take additional time to resolve.
However, in some cases, the custom house plan may be the only viable option based on the client's needs, home location, special building considerations, etc.

Disadvantages:

- Significantly more costly than stock houseplans

- Longer, more arduous process to develop

- Significantly more time consuming to produce (i.
many meetings necessary with designer over several month period)

Stock Houseplans Stock house plans are, by contrast, home designs which have been developed to fit the needs of a particular group of the general populace.

Stock homeplans normally include the ""most requested"" features including square footage, room dimensions, floorplan layout, amenities, and other like features.

When you buy a stock house plan, you're not paying for the countless hours spent drawing up a plan, re-working the plan, and finalizing drafts.

Advantages:

- Significantly less expensive

- Minor plan modifications can usually be made by the original designer or a local designer for a minimal charge.
com.
com offers a huge selection of unique house plans in many different architectural styles.
With so many plans available to choose from, it's a safe bet that you won't see your house plan replicated in your area.

The Basics of House Plans

"The Basics of House Plans","  House plans are an essential part of building a house.
House plans all have basic things in common and, even though, each house plan will differ, these basic elements will remain the same.

Basic house plans should consist of all the major elements a homeowner would like in their home.
The most important part of a house plan is to outline the structure of the house.
Also considerations like a garage or outside water element like a pond, should be mapped on the plan.
The square footage of the house should be marked on the plan.
Certain major items like the sinks and bathroom tub should also be mapped on the plan.
Basically the house plans are going to clearly show what the home owner expects the finished house to look like.
An added benefit of house plans is they allow the homeowner to ""see"" what their house will look like and eliminate any possible problems before it is built.

Making adjustment

Well we tried the shared living and it would have worked out if the person who we shared a house with didn't drink so much, we lived there 90 days and he drank vodka every single day and after about the 5th drink he becomes obnoxious and we don't want to be around that type of attitude.

We applied for Hud housing and plan on moving back to North Carolina if we get it, If we dont  we will look for another house share person or maybe rent a small mobile home. The Hud housing would cost 30% of our income after deductions so I'm thinking around $400 for everything included lights, water, cable. Hope it works out we would be able to save a little money and maybe have a Christmas next year.

Also trying to get disability for my Heart disease and diabeties through the VA. Don't know if that will go through or not but I will try for it. With all that's going on right now its almost overwhelming but a little persistance and we will get through these rough times. Don't forget to vote the irresponsible people out of office its the only way the poor will get ahead.

MAKE YOUR OWN ENERGY STOP PAYING FOR IT

WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG

I have been talking about house sharing now going on two years. My wife and I finally decided to try it out to see if we could really save some money. We moved in with a single male about our age, who is renting a house in Surfside Beach, SC. We been here about 90 days now and are ready to move somewhere else. There are a few things we don't like and had no way of knowing until we tried. He is a little on the excessive side when it comes to cleaning house and cooking its got to be his way or he wants no part of it. Also all he ever watches is reality shows on TV. We go to our room or get on computer, because we don't care anything about them, we like stuff like xfactor, and movies, and westerns.

The biggest reason we are leaving, is he is always talking about his ex-wife and his kids, how he wants to kill her and how great his kids are but we don't think they care about him they haven't been over here in last 3 months. He drinks from the time he gets home from work until he goes to bed and hasn't missed a single day yet. He has got to be an alcoholic and the way he talks about killing and all has got to have a serious problem. We just don't feel comfortable around him, so we will be moving on soon. Haven't found anyone else to move in with but we did apply for Hud Housing. Hope we can make ends meet, if we get it.

A Personal Experience of BVI Sailing Vacations

"A Personal Experience of BVI Sailing Vacations"," I was still blown away by the BVI.

The British Virgin Islands are a truly remarkable place.
The snorkeling around the islands is equally amazing and diverse, and of course the sailing is remarkable.
The islands make visible, line of site, destinations that even the most novice navigator could find.
One of the most remarkable discoveries to me was that bareboat chartering is within the grasp of average middle class people.
It's an incredible experience that anyone with even a little sense of wonder and adventure will love.
Skippers are available, but keep in mind that it's very hard for one person to sail a boat of the size available, so be prepared to lend a hand.
The bottom line is that if you are remotely physically capable and can put off redecorating the bathroom a little longer there is no reason you cannot be on a catamaran sailing in the BVI.
Bareboat chartering provides you with a clean slate on which to build your vacation.

Provisioning proved to be the biggest pre-charter challenge to me.
Armed with that information I opted to use the shopping list method of provisioning, which is pretty much just filling out a list of what you want and submitting it ahead of your arrival.
I also penciled in some items that weren't on the standard list and all of those items were available; even in the brands I wanted.
It was fun and not as hot as cooking in the galley.
I hadn't thought about it until I was there, but too much charcoal lighter fluid on the grill can be terrifying on a boat.

Fresh water is something else you should be conscious of.
Showers should consist of dousing, soaping and rinsing.

Packing is another obvious part of any trip and it's always a chore to decide what to take.
You'll also need some sunscreen of the highest SPF rating you can get and some canvas deck shoes or sneakers.
The Catamaran Company provides snorkel gear of high quality, so there's no need to worry about that.
Be sure to use duffle bags since there is little storage space for suitcases on a boat.
In fact the places we went to, which are mostly the popular charter destinations, were much better suited to snorkeling since the reefs were shallow.
What is termed as "Rendezvous Diving" is to have a dive boat come and meet your charter boat and pick you up to take you to a dive site.
The other option, of course, is to plan your charter around diving.
If they aren't it could get pretty boring for them.
Despite the girth of the hulls she is a fast boat and we had a lot of fun sailing her.
The Catamaran Company has many yachts to choose from, and you should select the boat that best suits your needs.
The ride from the airport on Beef Island to Nanny Cay on Tortola was scenic and pleasant.
She answered all of our questions and put us at ease.
Although the Nanny Cay Hotel, which is right off of the docks, seems great, we opted for sleeping aboard.
Public restrooms complete with showers are available, which is good since using boat heads at the marina docks is prohibited.
Within walking distance are Peg Legs Restaurant and bar, Genaker Cafe, a Rite Way grocery store, Bluewater Divers dive shop and a few other businesses.
We settled into the boat, unpacked and unwound.
A note should be made here that you pay for your provisioning when it arrives and if you plan to use a credit card you should contact your credit card company ahead of time or they may block transactions made in the BVI.
After stowing everything away it was 9:30 and our skipper arrived.
We set out for Norman Island.
It was a good introduction to sailing without too much stress, and I got my first chance to man the helm.
And appropriately enough we moored in Privateer's Bay.
We snorkeled, swam, kayaked and generally had a great time.
We moored to a mooring ball, which became a good habit.
Norman Island is uninhabited unless you count goats as population, but it does have two restaurants.
We enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the Caribbean in the cockpit over a couple of cold beers and had our first meal aboard the boat.
 It was a great evening.
The trip required several tacks and we found we swiftly improving at our sailing tasks.
There's even a small bungalow on the beach that finishes off the image completely.
 The snorkeling was spectacular.
 Visibility was around 50 feet.
There are also a boutique and dive shop as well as some cottages for rent.
There were about twenty other boats moored nearby, but once again they were very quiet and we had a peaceful evening.

Day 3:

We left Cooper Island early and after a brief diversion to Trellis Bay on Beef Island where we dropped off some garbage and picked up some ice and water, we set out for the famous Baths on Virgin Gorda.
Despite The Baths being the most crowded place we went they were magnificent and a "must see".
Visibility was good at over 50 feet and the coral and sea life were incredible.
At this point we were all thinking, ""How does it just keep getting better every day".
Saba Rock is a tiny little island just off of Virgin Gorda.
Despite it's size it sports a nice restaurant and bar and a gift shop as well as a small resort.
We cooked steaks that night and after dinner my father-in-law broke out his guitar and the skipper sang.
We didn't sound too bad, but we had drunk a few Pain Killers.

Day 4:

The skipper had made the mistake the day before of promising me he would take me out on the runabout to photograph the sun rising over the boat, so at around 5:00am I knocked on his cabin door and although a little bleary eyed he got up and assisted me without complaint.

The $25 mooring fee at Saba Rock includes a fill of your boats fresh water tank and two bags of ice.
We sailed to Great Dog, which is one of five uninhabited islands called The Dogs.
Visibility here was around 60 feet.

We had been keeping a close eye on a tropical storm called Bonnie and upon getting out of the water the skipper informed us that to err on the side of safety we would seek safe harbor for the night at Marina Cay.
Marina Cay turned out to be an interesting little island.
There is also a small beach.
I had the honor of meeting one of the cats.
We went ashore and had a look around and had a drink, but spent most of the afternoon and evening doing very little, and it turned out to be a nice break, even in the BVI.
They had a great time and the skipper and I enjoyed coffee from the bar.
Since conditions were good the conversation inevitably turned to just how fast the Bahia 46 was.
7 knots, which the skipper assured us was a respectable speed.
Jost, as the locals call it is about four miles long and has just fewer than two hundred permanent residents.
We opted to skip all of the usual tourist stuff and go to a little place our skipper knew about in Little Harbor called "Sidney's Peace and Love".
It had a great atmosphere, and the folks that run the place couldn't be friendlier.
On some evenings Sidney fires up the grill and makes bar b q.
Sidney's also features an honor bar, where you make your own drinks and mark down a record for the bill.
It was another great day in the BVI.
The colors playing across the water and the Caribbean style buildings on the shore made quite a picture.
Sandy Cay is like something out of a post card, with picture perfect palm trees and a beautiful sandy beach.
One of my friends found a trail and we followed it together.
We found that Sandy Cay was far more complex than it appears upon first examination.
It was a stark contrast to the tranquil looking beach area, and very beautiful in it's own right.
Once again we took an unnecessarily circuitous route so we could have some fun sailing.

Cane Garden Bay is certainly populated with many restaurants, bars, hotels etc.
It isn't overbuilt, and there are no tall ''', and no franchise stores.
Pink and powder blue clapboard houses cling to lush hill's sides overlooking a beautiful harbor.
Some of our group took a cab tour of the area, which they described as spectacular, while others of us visited a local dive shop and checked out the bars.

Day 7:

On our seventh day we sailed to Great Tobago.
We snorkeled and were very impressed with the marine life.
It has a dark and forbidding quality to it with dark cliffs plunging into the sea at skewed angles.
The uninhabited island is hilly but covered only by grass and a few spars and twisted shrubs.
All of this having been said, who can escape the appeal of an evil, haunted pirate island.

For the evening we put into Sopper's Hole.
Sopper's Hole is a little commercialized for my tastes, but it certainly does have many conveniences, with many stores, a restaurant and bar, and showers available.
We had dinner at Pusser's which was great and turned in for the night.
There were many hard goodbyes that day Starting with my friends Ben and Shari whom we dropped off at the ferry dock at around 9:00am.
After motoring back to Nanny Cay we had to rush my mother and father-in-law to a cab.
We were fortunate to have enough time to have one last coffee with the skipper at the Genaker Cafe.

It was truly the vacation of a lifetime and we would like to thank everyone at The Catamaran Company for making our trip so wonderful and being so kind and considerate.

This is a vacation, a voyage and an adventure that is within your grasp.
catamarans.

Top Reasons That Key West Should Be At The Top Of Your List For Your Next Vacation!

"Top Reasons That Key West Should Be At The Top Of Your List For Your Next Vacation!"," With its tropical waters, magical them parks, and the inviting sun, for some people there's no better place! And what better part to visit than the extreme southern tip down in the Florida Keys! This is about as close as you can get in the mainland U. S
and still think that you've passed over into some mysterious and exotic destination.
Now I don't mind the people who are here legally, but it's the illegal aliens that pour across the border and seem to find their way down here that change the outlook on things.
So in that respect, the Florida Keys are a pretty exotic place!

Having said that, the Florida Keys are still one of my favorite destinations to go visit, and it has a tropical flair like no other in the mainland! There is only one road in and one road out, but once you "cross over" you will be able to see the beautiful turquoise waters of the Florida Bay and the beginning of the Caribbean on the southern side of the bridges.
Take your time however, because there is a lot to see and savor on the way! After all, this is a vacation, and you can convert over to "island time" for a while.
The Florida Keys are divided up into 3 different sections, the Upper Keys (which includes the Key Largo area), the Middle Keys (the Islamorada area), and the Lower Keys (which includes Key West and some of the smaller islands).
The Middle Keys are widely known for its charter fishing operations, and Islamorada is known as the "Fishing Capital of the World"! The Lower Keys are known for the many islands and wildlife areas, and is more of a slower pace and relaxing time.
It really is quite a sight, and a fun one at that! This area is just like any tourist town, with a lot of visitors and vendors trying to earn their business.

There is a wide variety of delicious food available in this town, and I urge you to try as many different kinds of food as you can.

Also be sure to get out on the water doing something cool and refreshing, whether it's scuba diving, snorkeling, party catamaran-ing, parasailing, jet skiing, or whatever! Being out on the water just makes the daily stress dissolve from your body, and you'll soon be a new person! That is probably why you are down there in the first place!

One trip that I really believe you need to take is the fast ferry boat to the Dry Tortugas! These islands are really the last bastion of the U. S
southward, and are at the very tip of the Keys.
This fort is so massive that you wonder how far down it sand the island when it was built! They had to import everything by ship and then proceeded to build it brick by brick.
Then later on, it became part of the National Park system, and today it's a National Park of the U.S
It does have a ranger station and gift shop on the island, and a few very basic campsites available for people who would like to camp out with their tents.
One great thing about this is that probably the best snorkeling in the mainland U. S
is right here at the Dry Tortugas! The clarity of the water, the number of tropical fish and their size, all lead to some really great diving.
So plan that vacation soon to the Florida Keys, and enjoy yourself! If you are driving down, remember, that the trip is half the fun!

Mid-Range Yet Affordable Bora Bora Hotels

"Mid-Range Yet Affordable Bora Bora Hotels"," This volcanic island is regarded as a high class resort, wherein, you can spend your lifetime savings in a span of a few days.
However, be prepared because the price of everything here from activities to catering ranges from expensive to extremely expensive.

Amidst the high cost of living here, rains are very common in this island.
Aside from the frequent rains, this volcanic caldera has a stunningly beautiful lagoon that is well protected from outside waters by a surrounding motus.

The major attraction is the lagoon's rich tropical underwater life.
Don't worry because most hotels give these for free.
There are some archeological Polynesian relics and WWII remains scattered through the island.
The place is quite remote so don't expect to find a cinema, museum or library; so the best things you can do here is to enjoy the great outdoors.

Another activity to enjoy is snorkeling.
You may also sign up for snorkeling tours through the lagoon.
With this tour, you'll be able to experience feeding about 15 rays and 20 sharks via a boat over at the lagoon's shallow waters.
You'll be able to tour the marine life in pens.

Scuba Diving is also a great option, wherein, you can swim with the Manta rays, turtles, shark and Napoleon fishes.
There are also clubs that offer scuba courses and initiations.
Here, even children aged 8 yrs old and above are accepted.
Other activities are biking, horseback riding and jeep tours.
It's wiser to shop for groceries and commodities before going to this island.

For souvenirs, Bora Bora is famous for its Black Pearls.
Other lodging options range from mid-range to Bora Bora luxury hotels.
It is situated by the residential but still peaceful section of Bora Bora.

Novotel Bora Bora Beach Resort - This hotel offers affordable rooms, excellent services and a great location.
The beach is not more than 10 meters away
